Planer Mill 2
One of Robbins Lumber’s newest construction efforts has been upgrading our 1983 planer mill 2.  We have added a 6 head WACO moulder.  We did this primarily to achieve consistent milling quality between the two planer mills.  Since the addition of the new planer, the mill has been producing an average of 50,000 board feet of 1" thick Eastern White Pine lumber per day.  Our future plans for planer mill 2 are to increase the production by at least 50%

Planer Mill 3

Since its startup in November of 1993, PM3 has consistently produced 100,000 to 125,000 board feet of 1” thick Eastern White Pine lumber per day.  This represents approximately a 100% increase over our prior production capacity.  At 100 lifts per day, it is interesting to note that PM3 is staffed with the same number of employees as our other Planer Mill.  Highlighting the complex is the Weinig Super 30 B Moulder.  One of only three of its kind in the U.S., the ten planer heads produce a high quality “glass-like” finish.  Since 1997 we have been printing bar-codes and other product information on the end of every board leaving planer mill #3. Our PHL bin sorter allows sorting of the finished lumber by grade and length, allowing flexibility to generate custom orders more easily.

The mill is completely computer controlled, using Modicon PLCs for machine control, production monitoring, and fault diagnostics.  All of this information is then fed into our bar code inventory control system, which is available to sales, production, shipping, and accounting personnel immediately.
